2007 Seeding Projections

Seeding projections started with 11 games to play, after the weekend games of February 25, 2007, when Maryland beat UNC, 89-87. These results are re-created, I don't recall the exact order of the games on the days, but I think these are correct.

What makes this year interesting is the collapse of the Virginia teams, and the interesting range North Carolina faced down the stretch. Virginia Tech could have won the regular season by winning their last two games, but instead failed to do so and dropped to the third seed.

Going into the last game of the season, North Carolina needed to win to win the top seed and a share of the ACC regular season. But, if they lost at home to Duke, they'd have dropped all the way down to the fifth seed (and a Thursday game in the ACC Tournament) because they would have lost the tiebreakers with the other 10-6 teams.
